Ashness Bridge during the autumn with Bleaberry Fell behind. This centuries old bridge is possibly the most photographed stone packhorse bridge in the Lake District. Almost every photographer’s eye is drawn to the outlook over Derwentwater and Skiddaw, as is mine usually. What caught my eye here is the other face of the bridge. The fast-flowing water from the cascades in Asness Ghyll caught my attention so I wandered downstream to get a look: and my eye was caught by the other face of Ashness Bridge. And… there was Bleaberry Fell – its often ignored, but constant companion.

I took this photo while seeking out new angles on Autumnal scenery. I used a longer exposure on this occasion to exaggerate the flow of the water, transforming it into a creative work of art. Photographers often prefer a faster shutter speed to freeze the movement of the water. I hope the milky flow of the moving water pleases your eye too. We all have our own unique style.
